BioPharm America™ 2015 convenes over 800 global life science investors, leaders in Boston
The eighth edition of BioPharm America™ 2015 life science partnering event wrapped up last week in Boston with overwhelming success. Produced by EBD Group in collaboration with the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBio), the event brought together cutting edge biotech companies and early stage startups, with executives from global pharmaceutical companies, finance, investors and service partners.
The event was attended by 853 delegates from 524 companies representing 27 countries. 2,274 one-to-one partnering meetings were held at the event where 657 licensing opportunities were on offer.
New this year was the successful Biotech Startup Day which focused on new and innovative startup companies who presented directly to Boston’s leading financiers, pharma dealmakers and biotech business executives. A dedicated Partnerships in Regenerative Medicine and Advanced Therapies Day was also added, which convened top luminaries to discuss ways to advance the field.
“This year was a groundbreaking year for the life science industry in terms of deals and IPOs, and the energy was evident at BioPharm America,” said Anna Chrisman, Group Managing Director of EBD Group. “We continue to add new elements to the event that reflect the market, and the new program offerings this year, combined with the energy from the startups involved, resulted in one of our best events yet.”
“BioPharm America continues to draw a diverse group of industry leaders from around the world for productive partnering meetings,” said Robert K. Coughlin, President and CEO of MassBio. “These meetings are essential for the growth of our industry and the development of new treatments because, as we have seen increasingly over the past few years, collaboration is critical for the future of innovation here in Massachusetts and beyond.”
