EuroMedtech™ 2011 in Turin accelerated partnering in medtech
Zurich, Switzerland and Turin, Italy – May 23, 2011: Leaders from the medtech industry gathered last week for the third annual EuroMedtech™ partnering conference, held May 16–17 at the Torino Incontra Conference Center in Turin, Italy. 261 delegates representing 205 companies from 27 countries engaged in 741 one-to-one partnering meetings, confirming EuroMedtech as the premier destination for forming partnerships between emerging innovator and start-up companies, and large multinational firms.
The event featured 8 panel discussions and 45 presentations by medical technology companies seeking financing, licensing opportunities or partners for advancing their product development.
The event also attracted over 20 leading venture capital firms, including 360° Capital Partners, BioMedPartners, Citigroup, DFJ Esprit, Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners, Entrepreneurs Fund, Gilde Healthcare Partners, High-Tech Gruenderfonds Management, IJ Partners, Merieux Development, MVM Life Science Partners, NBGI Ventures, SEED Capital Denmark, Seventure Partners, SGECR, SHAM, Sofimac Partners Capital Investissement, TBG Management, Tech Coast Angels, Vaekstfonden, and Ysios Capital Partners.
"The impressive partnering activity at this year's EuroMedtech confirms a fundamental shift occurring in the medical technology space. Medtech companies are beginning to think of themselves as companies in the business of delivering health outcomes," said Carola Schropp, President of EBD Group. "This means that medtech firms are focused on partnering with a range of companies to develop products that are innovative, yet are valued by payors and regulators. Fundamentally, collaboration is becoming a competitive advantage for companies, and EuroMedtech provides the platform where those collaborations can get started."
The success of EuroMedtech 2011 sets the stage for next year's edition, which will be held in Grenoble, France.
