The 19th annual BIO-Europe®international partnering conference will be held in Vienna, Austria, November 4–6, 2013 at the Messe Wien Exhibition and Congress Center. The fall event is organized by EBD Group in collaboration with local host Life Science Austria Vienna (LISAvienna), the life science cluster of the Republic of Austria and the City of Vienna.
“Vienna’s life science sector is extremely active, in large part due to the strong support of their industry incubator, LISAvienna,” said Florian Schoenhammer, Group Managing Director of EBD Group. “The work of LISAvienna has resulted in the development of a robust cluster that has brought Vienna’s life science innovation to the larger global market. LISAvienna is an ideal partner. We are certain this will be one of our most successful partnering events to date.”
“We are very excited to be working with EBD Group to bring their flagship event to Vienna,” said Johannes Sarx, Managing Director of LISAvienna. “Vienna has a diverse biotech industry and an entrepreneurial culture focused on the development and financing of innovative Austrian life science startups.”
“Vienna is a life science hub due to our central European location, and our research excellence in the areas of infectious disease and vaccines, neurology, respiratory disease and regenerative medicine, among others,” said Peter Halwachs, Managing Director of LISAvienna.
“Vienna is known to many as the ‘city of knowledge’ that draws innovative minds from all over the world, and is considered to be a lucrative business location for international pharmaceutical and biotech companies,” said Renate Brauner, Deputy Mayor of the City of Vienna. “Vienna’s investment in biotech, pharma and medical technology is significant. Since 1998 the city has invested more than EUR 117 million in life science projects. We are proud to host BIO-Europe 2013.”
